You can take your vehicle for its next MOT up to one month before it is due without losing time on your certificate. This means:

• Your new MOT remains valid for 12 months from the expiry date of your current MOT

• Booking early can give you up to 13 months of MOT cover

When does my car need an MOT?

An MOT (Ministry of Transport test) is a legal annual inspection for vehicles three years old or more. The test checks:

• The overall safety of your vehicle

• The level of exhaust emissions

It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle has a valid MOT every 12 months. Please note:

• A valid MOT is required to renew your road tax

• Driving without a current MOT is illegal in the UK

• All MOTs are carried out by qualified DVSA Nominated Testers
